Capital Providers honour Dr Lokurlu and his Solitem Group for Sustainable Innovation

Dr Ahmet Lokurlu and his Solitem Group received the ‘Award for Sustainable Innovation 2007’ in the category of "Sustainable Innovation" at this year’s Sustainability Congress in Bonn. This Award was assigned by the Sustainability Association, and presented at a festive ceremony on May 3 by the Congress’ patron Bärbel Höhn, German MP.

The Sustainability-Association, or the "Association for the Promotion of the Sustainability Notion" is a pool of renowned German and international capital investment companies who count as pioneers in the field of Sustainable Investments and have become leaders in this area. Amonst them are the Bank Sarasin & Cie. AG, the Deutsche Bank AG, the ÖkoWorld Lux S.A. and many others.

Once a year, the Association organises the Sustainability Congress as a cross-sector forum on Sustainable Economy that gives impulses for a wide public discussion on the compatibility of ecology and economy.

On the occasion of the Congress, the Association assigns the Sustainability-Awards in three different categories. This year, the jury was especially impressed by the scientific competence, the creativity and ingenuity shown with the innovative Parabolic Trough Collectors developed by Dr Lokurlu and his team. This system uses solar energy to run highly efficient air conditioning installations and produce process steam.

This year's prizes have been the third of their kind; first laureate in the category of "Sustainable Innovation" was the Henkel Group in 2005 who was honoured for their special social and environmental commitment. Last year's award went to Toyota for their groundbreaking hybrid car technology.
