With pleasure, we proudly announce the awarding of Dr. Ahmet Lokurlu and his company SOLITEM GmbH from Aachen ( Germany ) with the “Global 100 Eco-Tech Award“ on the 1st September of 2005 in Nagoya , Japan . The price is forwarded on the basis of the developed concept of solar cooling. The consideration of Dr. Lokurlu is an acknowledgement of his achievement.

Solar cooling is one of the most important technical solutions of the 21st century. During summer time, more than 50% of the entire electricity production in most hot climate areas like the Mediterranean, The Southwest of the US , Australia or the Arabian Countries is used for the generation of cooling energy, mostly through compression chillers. To cover the high demand, electricity is provided by power plants, which operate on fossil fuels and lead to high CO2 emissions. Furthermore, it leads to power breakdowns quite frequently. Through solar cooling, the electric power demand gets reduced drastically and CO2 emissions become eliminated.

The concept, developed by SOLITEM, is demanded increasingly on the market. Presently we are working on solutions for different energetic challenges, for instance solar cooling of warehouses and supermarkets, intelligent energy management for hotels, the supply of industrial hot-steam or cooling energy as well as desalination plants. Our aims are the reduction of energy costs, the cutback of electricity peaks and the prevention of CO2.

The development department of SOLITEM is located in Aachen/Germany, whereas the responsibility for the mechanical assembly lies with the branch office in Ankara/Turkey. Overall, there are 20 staff members working for the Aachen company. In the course of the worldwide shortage of fossil energy and the increasing energy prices, we experience a great interest of our alternative solution. In the near future, we will provide quite a number of new jobs, cooperate with more partners and go into joint ventures.
