SOLITEM wins Energy Globe Award2004 in the category "fire"
Again First Prize For Sun And Ice
On Wednesday, the 27th of April 2005, the renowned "Energy Globe Award 2004" in the category "Fire" was awarded to Dr. Ahmet Lokurlu during a presentation show at the world exhibition "EXPO 2005" in Aichi/Japan. "Fire" means the power to enable and save life, which is the sun and it's delivered energy in this case. The prize was awarded to Dr. Lokurlu in recognition of the innovative solar cooling system he invented and launched on the marked with the SOLITEM GmbH.
The top-classed jury was not only convinced of the immense potential of solar cooling, but also of the new parabolic trough collector technology which has been developed by
Dr. Lokurlu and is unique on the world marked. The jury titled the deployment as "groundbreaking".
With its parabolic trough collectors the SOLITEM-technology achieves temperatures up to 200 °C and produces coldness for climatisation systems. A first installation has been realised at the hotel "Iberotel Sarigerme Park", which belongs to the TUI-group and is suited at the turkish cost of Aegean sea. In that pilot-system, which was the reason for the nomination, parabolic trough collectors supply the laundry with steam, the kitchen with hot water and meanwhile cool the rooms of the hotel. The great advantage of the SOLITEM-technology is the reducing of energy expenditure in comparison with conventional technologies. In addition the processes run at zero of CO2-emission.
The prize was awarded to Dr. Lokurlu by Peter Moser, the Austrian Ambassador in Japan. The chairman of the EXPO 2005, Mr. S. Toyoda, congratulated Dr. Lokurlu on his success as well as the Austrian Minister for Economy and Labour, Mr. Martin Bartenstein, and his japanese counterpart and the Austrian UNO-Ambassdor.
