SOLITEM wins R.I.O. Innovation Award 2004

SOLITEM was awarded to the R.I.O. Innovation Award 2004 for the coolest technical invention since solar energy exists.

SOLITEM developed a parabolic trough collector which is optimized to solve the cooling-problems in countries with lots of insolation and launched it on the market. Already the first installed system in a large hotel of the TUI-group in Turkey shows how it is possible to produce heat (steam) and coldness at the same time with a parabolic trough collector. As a consequence of this technology lots of power plants in mediterranean regions could be reduced, since they are in use mainly to supply electricity to climatization systems in summer at present.

The high-classed jury classified the meaning of the SOLITEM technology such imposing, that there were no other prizewinners nominated. The prize was awarded to Dr. Lokurlu on the 28.09.2004 at the IHK in Aachen in front of a large audience.

The happy winner said: "This prize is a gift to nature: Its rules made it possible to cool with the heat of the sun. Merely we developed the most effective technology."

The awarding of the prize was organised by the Kathy Beys Foundation. The jury was put together by the Kathy Beys Foundation, the R.I.O. Impuls from Switzerland and the Insitute for Sustained Research of Austria.
