In the summer of 1993, while on a holiday in the Mediterranean, SOLITEM's CEO Dr. Ahmet Lokurlu was lying on the beach one fine day and got rather badly sunburnt. That day, his idea took shape for the first time: Why not take the enormous and virtually inexhaustible energy of the sun and transform it into cooling?
Dr. Lokurlu has come a long way since that summer day, founded his company in 1999 and worked very hard to make his dream come true: To have his own company and make his groundbreaking technology which combines environmental protection with profitability available to people all over the world.
Today, SOLITEM is an innovative and growing enterprise with its head office in the high-tech region of Aachen in Germany and branches in Turkey. The company combines highly specialised know-how with its own trend-setting inventions and is therefore one of the worldwide leaders in the area of developing powerful and environmentally friendly energy supply systems, which have been repeatedly honoured with internationally acclaimed awards.
The main focus of our technology is the integration of renewabel energies into exisiting energy infrastructures of buildings and plants, especially by means of solar high-temperature technology. Furthermore, the company offers solutions for the use of modern processes for the conversion and use of energy for solar air conditioning, for co-generation systems, solar process heat generation and utilisation as well as drive systems for micro turbines.

The energy supply systems for the outside temperature-controlled air conditioning of building which are SOLITEM's own developments and patented are based on an absorption chiller exclusively operated on solar energy.
This plant offers the extraordinary advantage to reduce pollutant emissions considerably and at the same time to save energy and thereby costs. Building and plant operators in areas with favourable solar irradiation can benefit immensely.
The range of application for such solar air conditioning plants varies widely: Hotels and hospitals as well as apartment complexes, (refrigerated) warehouses, supermarkets and production facilities, in short all buildings and plants with a high for energy intensive cooling. SOLITEM will also introduce a smaller system for the cooling and power supply of residential houses and similar building in the near future and thus give also private customers the possibility to benefit from the combination of efficiency and enviroment protection.
